Rainy season comes along with clouds, winds, thunderstorms and of course rain. All the trees, shrubs, bushes, grass are all lush green, abundant and glowing! Along with the greens, are a wide range of mosquitoes, insects, microorganisms multiplying and flourishing.
Ayurveda is able to understand and articulate the impact of various environmental conditions onto our human body in terms of Tridosha & Agni!
And hence come up with what can a person do, a family do, at one’s own level to balance the Tridosha and not fall ill.
IMPACT OF RAINY SEASON ON HUMAN BODY
- Vata is vitiated or imbalance in the body, causing increase of pains or lethargy and weakness.
- The Agni is fluctuating, hence the digestion becomes slower, or poor digestion.
- Appetite fluctuates
- Having ‘Krimi dosha’ i.e. increase of bacterial or parasitic growth in the body.
WHAT CAN ONE DO?
- Prepare boiled water of Jeera & Ginger to drink the whole day.
- Eating vegetables that are seasonal i.e. mainly the ‘Gourd veggies’ and pumpkins.
- The way to cook is by boiling the vegetables and then a ‘Tadka of Ghee’. Preparing soupy foods such as soup of vegetables, soup of Moong dal (green gram), & Masoor dal, Barley or wheat daliya help to take care of the digestive system.
- Spices that can support the cooking process are dry ginger, jeera, and little garlic.
- Avoid leafy vegetables even though they are available in abundance, because all leafy veggies have a tendency to create/increase parasitic growth in the body.
- Thus foods that are light-warm-soupy are able to take care of the Vata vitiation and support the Agni too.
Even with all the precautions, there is a possibility of having illness, so one needs to visit an Ayurvedic Physician who would then give personalized medication according to the Dosha Prakop in the body and help bring back the balance!
